High-security locks
What "high-security" actually means on a lock
It's not a marketing label. UL 437-rated cylinders are tested against picking, drilling, and forced entry, and use key control — a restricted keyway that means copies can only be cut with your authorization, not walked into any hardware store. We install and service Mul-T-Lock and comparable high-security lines.
This matters most for street-level doors, apartment buildings that had a break-in or a former tenant's key floating around, and businesses that need to know exactly who holds a key. For a home with average risk, a good standard deadbolt is often enough — we'll tell you honestly if you don't need to upgrade.

High-security locks: what people ask before they book
Do I actually need a high-security lock, or is a standard deadbolt enough?
For most homes with average risk, a good standard deadbolt is enough. High-security makes the most sense for street-level entries, buildings with staff or tenant turnover, or after a break-in or a lost key you can't account for. We'll give you an honest read, not the most expensive option by default.
What does "restricted keyway" mean for me day to day?
Copies of your key can only be cut by an authorized locksmith with your signature or a card system, not at any hardware store. If you hand out a key to a contractor or tenant, you control whether it gets duplicated.
Can I get high-security cylinders that fit my existing door hardware?
Often, yes — many high-security cylinders retrofit into standard deadbolt and lever housings. We'll check your specific hardware before quoting.
