Locked out of your apartment? We open it, not the door frame.

Keys inside, super not answering, or a lock that's fought you before. A licensed mobile locksmith reaches most NYC apartments the same visit — and you know it's actually your door before anything opens.

Apartment lockouts

NYC apartment doors aren't all the same lock

A prewar walk-up in Brooklyn or Manhattan often still runs an old mortise lock set into the door itself — a different mechanism from the pin-tumbler cylinder deadbolts you'll find in a newer Queens rental. We carry tools for both, so the technician who shows up already knows which one your building probably has before he sees the door.

If your building has a superintendent, doorman, or management office, we're used to working with them on entry — some buildings want a staff member present, most don't ask. Either way, the same ID and proof-of-residency rule applies to you.

  • Standard pin-tumbler and mortise locks, walk-ups and elevator buildings
  • We coordinate with supers or management when a building requires it
  • ID and proof you live there, checked before any door opens
  • Most locks open without drilling — if yours can't, you hear the replacement price first

How it works

Four steps, and no surprises in the middle

You call. You hear what it costs. Someone comes. The door opens. The order never changes, and neither does the price we quoted on the phone.

STEP 01

You call

Give us the address with cross streets, the borough, and the door type if you know it. (917) 970-2894

STEP 02

You get a real ETA

You hear who is coming and how long it honestly takes from wherever the technician is. If that's too long, call someone else, no hard feelings.

STEP 03

Price before the van moves

The cost is agreed on that call. If the lock may need drilling, you hear the replacement price at the same time.

STEP 04

ID, then the door

The technician asks for identification and proof you live there. Then the lock opens, at the price you already agreed to.

Questions

Apartment lockouts: what people ask before they call

What if I'm not on the lease?

We can usually still help if you can show you live there — mail addressed to you at that apartment, a photo ID with a roommate or family member present, or the leaseholder confirming by phone while we're on site. What we won't do is open a door on a name and address that don't match anything you can show us.

My building has a doorman or super. Do I still need ID?

Yes. A doorman confirms you live in the building, not that apartment 4B is yours specifically. We still check ID and, where possible, something with your unit number on it.

Will you drill my lock?

Only if picking it isn't realistic, and you'll hear that — and the price of the replacement cylinder — before we start, not after. Most residential mortise and pin-tumbler locks open without drilling.

I'm locked out and my roommate isn't answering. What now?

Call us anyway. We don't need your roommate present if you can show you live there yourself. Waiting on someone else to pick up their phone isn't a plan.

Do you work in Manhattan and Queens, or just Brooklyn?

All three. We're a mobile locksmith based in Brooklyn and licensed citywide, and we take calls across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. Give us your cross streets and we'll give you an honest ETA before you commit to anything.
