Locked out of your house? We open it, not the frame.

Row houses, brownstones, and free-standing homes each lock up differently — a decorative ironwork gate, an old high-cylinder deadbolt, or both stacked on the same door. A licensed mobile locksmith carries tools for what your block actually has, not a generic kit.

House lockouts

Two locks are common on one NYC house door

A lot of Brooklyn and Manhattan row houses have a decorative wrought-iron security gate in front of the actual door, each with its own lock — sometimes a basic pin-tumbler, sometimes a Mul-T-Lock or other high-security cylinder installed by a previous owner who took security seriously. We open both layers, not just the one that's easier.

If there's a side entrance, basement door, or backyard access you can get to instead, mention it on the phone — sometimes that's the faster and cheaper way in than the front gate.

  • Ironwork security gates and the door lock behind them
  • Older mechanical cylinders and modern high-security hardware alike
  • Proof you own or live in the home, checked before any door opens
  • Side, basement, or backyard entry considered if it's faster

How it works

Four steps, and no surprises in the middle

You call. You hear what it costs. Someone comes. The door opens. The order never changes, and neither does the price we quoted on the phone.

STEP 01

You call

Give us the address with cross streets, and tell us if there's an ironwork gate, a basement entry, or anything unusual about the door. (917) 970-2894

STEP 02

You get a real ETA

You hear who is coming and how long it honestly takes from wherever the technician is. If that's too long, call someone else, no hard feelings.

STEP 03

Price before the van moves

The cost is agreed on that call. If a second lock or a stubborn old cylinder means more work, you hear that price at the same time.

STEP 04

ID, then the door

The technician asks for identification and proof you own or live in the home. Then the door opens, at the price you already agreed to.

Questions

House lockouts: what people ask before they call

My house has an iron security gate in front of the door. Can you open both?

Yes — that's a standard setup on a lot of Brooklyn and Manhattan row houses. We open the gate lock and the door lock behind it; mention the gate when you call so the technician comes prepared for two locks, not one.

What proof do I need to show?

A photo ID and something that ties you to the address — mail, a lease or deed, a utility bill. If the home is in a family member's name, having them reachable by phone works too.

My front door lock is old and doesn't respond well to picking. What then?

Older row house cylinders can be stiff or worn in ways that make picking slower or impractical. If that's the case, you'll hear it on the phone or on site, along with the price, before we move to drilling.

Can you use a side or basement door instead of the front?

Often, yes, and it can be faster and cheaper than a gated front entry. Tell us when you call if you have another way in we should try first.

Do you work in Manhattan and Queens, or just Brooklyn?

All three. LexKey Locksmith LLC is a mobile locksmith based in Brooklyn, licensed citywide, taking calls across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens.
